Quick tips to apply to remote jobs

To help you find a remote job, the FlexJobs Career Coaching team recommends creating a customized cover letter and customized resume highlighting your remote work experience.

Even if you've never worked in a remote position before, you likely have remote work experience. For example, if you've worked with coworkers in an office in a different part of the state or time zone, this is considered a remote work experience. Working from home a few times, earning a degree or certification online, or doing virtual volunteering can also be considered a remote work experience.

Follow these three tips to highlight your remote work experience and talents on your resume!

1. State it clearly

If you have specific remote work experience, make sure you include it on your resume. For example, list "Remote Work" next to your job title. For example "Director of Marketing (100% Remote Work)".

2. Describe it

Include your remote work experience in your job descriptions. If you have any experience working remotely, make it clear. For example: "Led a team of five customer service reps in a completely remote work environment and successfully achieved an average team satisfaction rating of 94%."

If you have never worked for a remote company before, you can still describe your remote work experience in your work assignments. For example “Coordinated project meetings with employees in three different time zones”.

3. Express your skills
