Instagram Stories Hacks # 1: Insert Photos Right Into Your Stories
Always wanted to add extra pictures or have multiple photos in a single Instagram story? Or are you adding a specific GIF that you can't find in Instagram's GIF library?
We will show you two options:
Option 1: Copy a photo from your camera roll
This is a super easy and quick way to add an extra photo or GIF to your Instagram story post. All you have to do is copy a photo from your camera roll and then paste it into your story using the text tool!
First, open a photo and tap the “Export” button.
Now tap "Copy" and go back to your Instagram story.
Double tap the screen to bring up the “Paste” option.
And that's it! The photo you copied earlier should now appear in your story.
Option 2: Use Google's Gboard app
The second option is to download the Gboard app from Google and paste photos right from your keyboard.
To do this, just open a story and tap the screen to bring up the Gboard.
Now tap on the Google logo "G" and enter a query in the search bar.
You can sort your search by images and GIFs.
When you find what you're looking for, just tap the picture or GIF to copy it, then tap the screen once to paste!
Remember to check usage rights or credit the image if necessary.
The great thing about this Instagram Stories hack is that there are so many use cases. For example, when you re-share an Instagram post to your stories, you can put a rectangle in the story and then place it behind the post for a border effect.
Whenever you're trying to add your branded colors to a story, you can put an element in your story that contains the colors (such as a graphic or logo) and then use the paint dropper to determine the exact color of that element.
Instagram Stories Hacks # 2: Turn Your Live Photos into Boomerangs
Did you know that you can turn your live photos into boomerangs in Instagram Stories?
As for the Instagram Stories hacks, this is definitely the lesser-known site. The reason is For it to work, the live photo must be taken within the last 24 hours! This is how it works:
Just open Instagram Stories, swipe up, and choose a live photo from your camera roll.
After making your selection, press firmly on the screen for a few seconds until the word “Boomerang” appears briefly.
And that's it! You've now turned your shot into a boomerang!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 3: Add Your Branded Fonts to Your Stories
Instagram Stories has a number of great fonts, but nothing beats having your own branded font! If you want to add a little more "brand" to your stories, writing in your branded font is a great option. And luckily there is a way to do it.
First, download the Over Mobile app. Once downloaded, you can transfer your font's OFT file to your mobile device.

Instagram Stories Hacks # 4: See How Many Times Your Post Has Been Shared On Stories
Instagram collects a ton of great data about the performance of your Instagram post, such as: B. the number of impressions, saves, episodes and more. However, there is one piece of data you may be missing out on: re-sharing stories.
You won't find this in your Instagram Insights. Instead, you'll need to tap the ellipsis in the top right corner of a post to bring up a menu with a "View Story Reshares" option.
This will take you to a screen with a list of your current public shares.
You can even tap on one of the reshares to see it live on the user account.
If you don't see the option to view Reshares, it means your post is not currently being shared on other people's stories!
This can be especially useful if you want to share user generated content on your Instagram stories! For example, if you've just launched a new product, you might want to re-share how your followers are reacting to your big announcement.
Instagram Stories Hacks # 5: Align your text left, right, or center
Some font styles in Instagram Stories lack the option to be left or right justified, which can be a bit annoying.
Usually, you can just tap the alignment button in the top left corner of the screen to change the alignment of your text. However, if the button is missing (which is the case with Modern, Neon, and Strong fonts), your text will automatically appear centered.
Fortunately, there is a simple solution! Just type a message in Instagram Stories using a font that doesn't have the alignment button.
Now swipe your finger left or right over your text. This should change the alignment of the text.
Instagram Stories Hacks # 6: Access Even More Colors in Instagram Stories
Instagram Stories is a great place to showcase your brand's personality, but it's also very important to reflect your brand's style, tone, and aesthetic. One of the easiest ways to do this is to incorporate your brand's color palette.
But what if Instagram doesn't offer your branded colors in the standard color options?
Thankfully, there is a hidden Instagram Stories hack that lets you access any color you could need for your text!
All you have to do is open your Instagram Stories and select the brush tool. Now tap and hold one of the standard color options at the bottom of the screen to open the color slider.
Now just swipe the slider to choose a custom color for your story.
If you're using an Instagram Stories template that you designed using your branded colors, the color picker tool can help you find the exact branding color from your template.

Instagram Stories Hacks # 7: Add a "Glow" Effect to Your Emojis
Sometimes the simplest Instagram Stories hacks are the most fun!
If you've always wanted to really make your emojis stand out in Instagram Stories, there is a hidden trick to give them a glow effect.
To do this, just open your stories, tap the screen to open the text tool, and select the neon font.
Now when you add an emoji it should glow slightly!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 8: Create a Solid Color Background for Your Stories
This color fill trick is very useful when you want to share a canvas with drawings and text instead of a photo or video!
Tap the pencil icon in the top right corner of the screen and choose a color.
Then, tap the screen for 1-3 seconds until the screen turns solid.
Note: The screen has a solid color fill if you use the marker or neon brush, or a translucent color fill if you use the chisel brush.
If you want to take this Instagram Stories hack a step further, the eraser tool lets you create some sort of "scratch card" effect that is perfect for revealing!
For example, if you're teasing an upcoming campaign or even a new blog post, you can paint your screen with the paintbrush tool and then use the eraser to share some details about the future.
This is how it works:
Open Instagram Stories and take a photo or upload one from your camera roll. Once your photo is inserted, tap the pencil icon in the top right corner of the screen and choose a color.
After that, tap and press the screen for 1-3 seconds until the screen is solid color.
Tap the eraser icon in the top right corner of the screen and select the size of the eraser using the slider on the left side of the screen. Now tap or swipe on the screen that you want to view the underlying image on.
And that's it! If you want to seduce your audience and just want to share a little highlight of your story, this Instagram Stories hack will come in handy.
Instagram Stories Hacks # 9: Create Cool Effects Using the Eraser Tool
Speaking of the eraser tool, you can actually use it to create all kinds of cool effects on your Instagram stories.
For example, you can use the drawing tool to draw a person or an object in a zigzag manner.
Then use the eraser tool to erase parts of the zigzag effect and create a 3D effect.
This is just one of many ways you can use the eraser tool to create a cool design effect for your Instagram stories!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 10: Add a Background When Sharing a Feed Post on Instagram Stories
This is a hack that people often ask about – adding your own background when sharing a feed post on Instagram Stories. That's how it works!
First, download the Over Mobile app and create a new project by opening the "transparent" background and selecting the story size.
Now all you have to do is add a background from your phone – you can find tons on Pinterest and Unsplash. Once you have it, resize it so it fills the space.
Next, use the Mask Tool to create a small transparent circle in which to position your post.
Finally, export the image as a PNG.
Now whenever you share a feed post on Instagram Stories, just copy and paste the wallpaper from your camera roll.
To do this, first tap on the "Add a post to your story" button in a post. Then open your camera roll and copy the background image.
When you open Instagram Stories again, the background will appear as a sticker. All you have to do is drag it across the screen and then tap the feed post through the circle to bring it to the front.
And that's it!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 11: Hide Your Hashtags
Sometimes hashtag stickers can ruin the aesthetics of the Instagram story you're trying to post, but luckily there are ways to get around this.
If you want to hide hashtags on your Instagram stories, type in your hashtags (you can put up to 10 on your stories) and pinch them to make them smaller.
Now place a GIF or picture sticker over the hashtag text so it's perfectly hidden!
Or you can choose the color tool from the text option and choose a color that perfectly matches your Instagram story background (this works much better if the background is a solid color). With just two taps, your hashtag content will magically blend into the background and still be searchable!
Remember, if you make them too small, Instagram won't register the hashtags. So the best way is to camouflage them with the background or hide them behind another design element.
Instagram Stories Hacks # 12: Create a Drop Shadow Effect for Your Text
Sometimes the smallest design details can have the greatest impact.
If you're looking for an easy way to add a little flash and pizzazz to your Instagram stories, you can try adding a drop shadow effect to your text.
Open your stories and tap the screen to bring up the text tool. Write your message, choose your font, and resize it by pinching your fingers.
Repeat these steps again with exactly the same font and size, but a different color!
Now just arrange the top text layer so that it is slightly off the center of the bottom text layer, and you're done!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 13: Split Multiple Question Stickers on a Single Story
The Instagram Stories question sticker has found a lot of love with businesses on Instagram. It's a great way to show your followers that you are available. There's a real person behind your account.
You can ask for advice or give your viewers a chance to discuss their thoughts – whatever will help you connect with your audience on a deeper level. For example, if you are planning a live broadcast or takeover of Instagram Stories, you can use the question sticker to gather your audience's most pressing questions in advance.
The only downside is that you can only share one question sticker per story. So if a lot of people have written, you may need to create 10+ stories to share them all. Fortunately, there is a simple workaround!
Watch how Later hacked the Instagram Stories question sticker to share multiple answers in one post:
Just create a story sharing an answer to your question sticker.
Now take a screenshot and finish the story.
Now open the screenshot you just took and create a second story with a different answer to a question sticker.
Keep going until you have multiple question stickers on a single story.
And that's it! Your followers will thank you for typing their thumbs a little!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 14: Pin text, stickers, emojis and GIFs to your Instagram Stories
Did you know that instead of just overlaying design elements over your Instagram Stories, you can add text, stickers, emojis and GIFs to your videos and boomerangs so that they appear at the perfect moment?
By adding creative elements to your Instagram Stories videos, you can amaze and keep your viewers busy!
To do this, just record your video and add a creative element like text, sticker, emoji or GIF.
Now tap and hold the item that you added.
Use the slider at the bottom of the screen to scroll through the video and find out where you want to pin your creative.
When you find the right place on your video, tap on "Pin".
Instagram Stories Hacks # 15: Use the Giphy App to Share GIFs to Stories Directly
Instagram's collaboration with GIPHY has been a huge win for businesses and Instagram users alike. But there is another way to add GIFs to your stories: use the GIPHY app!
If you are in the GIPHY mobile app, pressing the Instagram icon under a GIF will automatically open Instagram.
You will now see a screen with two options: add the GIF as a post to your feed or add the GIF as a story.
You may be wondering why this is useful. Unlike Instagram Stories, where you can only search for GIFs (and obviously publish them), GIPHY lets you create albums of your favorite GIFs and then just share them when the time is right.
Basically, this makes it easier to be "intentional" and foresighted with the GIFs you have shared.
Instagram Stories Hacks # 16: Create GIF-Like Content Using ImgPlay
If you've been looking for a way to make your own GIFs for Instagram Stories, look no further. ImgPlay is the easiest way to make GIFs with photos and videos right from your camera roll!
ImgPlay allows you to cut out parts of your video or select multiple photos to create a slideshow or GIF. You can also edit existing GIFs from your device through the app.
We use ImgPlay here at Later to stitch multiple photos together for a GIF-like look:
To get a similar look, download the app and then choose the source to create your GIF, whether it's photos, live photos, or a video. Then tap "Make".
Once you've created your GIF, you can Change the playback speed and duration, and add text, filters, and other adjustments using the icons in the bottom bar.
When you're done, just upload your new GIF to Instagram Stories!
Instagram Stories Hacks # 17: Plan Your Instagram Stories In Advance

Instagram Stories Hacks # 18: Create Line Breaks
If you want to add a simple colored box to your story, you can do so by programming a text replacement with a keyboard shortcut on your phone.
If you create a keyboard shortcut that is all spaces, you can give the spaces a background color (since Instagram will still read this as text when you choose your font), but it will appear as a simple, colored box in your post!
All you have to do is copy the space between these brackets (⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀) to your mobile device. Then open your phone's settings and go to General, Keyboard and finally to "Text Replacement".
Tap the “+” button in the upper right corner and add the space in the “Phrase” section. You can then name your shortcut.
Now go back to Instagram Stories and tap the screen to open the text tool. Enter your shortcut, then select Text Replacement.
Now highlight the text and add a color from the options at the bottom of the screen.
And voila! You now have a colored box to put behind your text!
