What are Instagram roles?
Instagram takes over the popular TikTok (and other new tools like Byte and Triller). Instagram Reels is a new and emerging video format for Instagram Stories that lets you record and edit 15-second videos of popular songs.
Instead of creating a separate app for roles as with IGTV, Instagram has integrated the new format into its main app. Videos can be viewed in users' feeds, in the story bar and on the Explore page.
When you view Instagram Reels on Explore, you can scroll through videos from popular and trendy accounts on Instagram.
And as we wrote in our ultimate guide: Although the Reels algorithm has not yet been locked out, it feels very similar TikToks For You page and is This probably depends on who you are following, what content you are interacting with and where you are.
It means that Even people who don't follow you can see and deal with your roles – This is a great engagement hack and a great chance to grow your fan base!
Instagram roles are currently only available in Brazil, India, France and Germany. But Instagram has promised a US-wide rollout and 50 other countries – we'll keep you up to date!
Let's take a look first How to create and upload your first Instagram roles in 3 steps:
How to Create Instagram Roles Step 1: Choose Your Music, Speed, and Filters
To create your first Instagram roles, first open the "Instagram Stories" camera and select the "Roles" option.
Before you record your video, you can choose the music that belongs to your role.
As well as what part of the song you want to present.
You can also adjust the speed of your reel.
Add filters and effects.
Select the total length of your video (as well as whether you want a countdown before your recording starts).

How to Create Instagram Roles Step 2: Record Your Video
The next step is to include your Instagram roles. This is almost exactly like recording a video for Instagram stories (you can also upload a previously recorded clip).
Once you're done recording, you can add more effects to your videos, such as: B. GIFs, stickers and text.
You can also choose where you want your text to appear in your video. For example, if you want the text to appear only at the beginning of your role, set the slider to cover only the first few seconds of the video.

How to Create Instagram Roles Step 3: Click Share!
When you're happy with everything, tap the "Next" button to share your Instagram role.
Unlike Instagram Stories, which have limited sharing options, when you share Instagram Reels, you can add caption and hashtags and edit them Video thumbnail (including adding a cover from your camera roll), and choose where to share it.
Instagram roles are automatically shared in Explore. However, you can also share your role with your Instagram feed.
If you choose this option, your role will appear in your profile under a new section with Instagram roles.
When someone watches your Instagram Reels video, they'll see your username, caption, hashtags, music, and filter (if you've used one).
And that's it!
There's no telling how big Instagram roles are going to be, but if TikTok's massive success is an indication of that, we see the future pretty bright.
Although Instagram roles are still being tested in several places, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the new format now so that you can create and upload your first Instagram roles when you get access!
