While this is the Thanksgiving holiday week, it hasn't been slow at all in terms of search news and changes. First, we had an unconfirmed update to Google's search ranking earlier this week, which is worrying. Google got caught testing expanding snippets with links to third-party websites that the website itself didn't add. Google also accidentally rated its own Google-generated web stories and then re-indexed them. Google Search Console has released a new and amazing crawl statistics report. Google fixed the viewer for manual actions. Google said it could rate a page for content even after removing the content. According to Google, click bots do not improve your Google rankings. Google tests whether searchers can highlight the search result snippets in order to conduct a new search. Bing does this too. There has been a huge surge in Google My Business suspensions. Google Local plans can now show how many years a business has been in operation. Google Local is testing the display of message buttons in Google Posts. Google also displays the Google Guaranteed badge in the local package. Microsoft started the look in search. Google Ads Editor version 1.5 has been released. Try it. Google AdSense paid several publishers multiple times this month. Google released a socially distant Google Doodle for Thanksgiving this year. Oh, and if you'd like to sponsor these vlogs, go to patreon.com/barryschwartz. That was the search news this week at the Search Engine Roundtable.
