Generally, when it comes to updating Google's local ranking algorithm, you have to wait around a week to see the chatter from the local SEO community. I don't see much of this chatter yet, but BrightLocal's tracking tool has been lighting up for the past two days, showing signs of severe fluctuations in local rankings in Google Search.
Here's what the tool shows for the past two days compared to the previous days. Remember the tool has been very quiet for the past few weeks:
The tool also allows you to break down which industries or industries have been hardest hit and it appears that car dealerships, bars and pubs, accounting / financial firms and a few others have been hardest hit by this update.
Joy Hawkins responded to the local search forums thread by saying, "Yeah, I'm seeing some pretty big changes in the handful of customers I've just checked."
As I said, there's very little talk, but I'm curious to see if you see changes in rank for the local package in Google Search in your region? Are your customers getting less traffic from Google My Business? You won't see it in Google My Business Insights yet as these reports were a few days ago.
