I published the Google Webmaster Monthly Report for January 2021. It's a good place to catch up on last month's SEO content. I'm seeing some early signs of another unconfirmed update to the Google search ranking algorithm. Google Question Hub was released for US publishers. It's a pretty cool way to come up with new content ideas. Google seems to show fewer FAQ-based rich results in search results. Google launched related tags in the Find Interesting Finds feature. The results of the Google product search test a slider to show the size of the product. Bing Webmaster Tools added crawl and index data to the performance report. Google is working on improving the robots.txt test tool using the production version of the parser. Google Data Studio can now pull message query data from the search console. The Google Search Console silently reports on the following redirects. This is important to know when looking at the reports. Google sends notes from your reviewer for re-examination. Google is testing dynamic tabs for the local panel. Yocale may be pushing their booking service on your Google My Business listing and you may not even know it. Google Maps clearly shows what ads are now. Google is now rolling out new performance reports for Google My Business. The Google search engineer said he personally launched features that messed up the Google Ads team when it had a negative impact on advertising revenue. Google's Danny Sullivan had to reiterate that ads don't affect organic impact. If anyone on Google says this it needs to be fixed. Google Ads has now added data exclusions for Smart Bidding. Some Google employees have formed a union called the Alphabet Workers Union, which is unusual for a tech company. Carolyn Lyden has joined Search Engine Land and SMX as Head of Search Content.
