What is Instagram Shop?
Instagram shop is a New, optimized way for users to discover shopping products on Instagram.
The new shopping destination is currently being launched in the United States along with the launch of Facebook Pay – a new secure way to make payments through Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.
US users can currently discover the new Instagram shop tab via Instagram Explore:
And in the not too distant future, an Instagram shop button will be added to the main navigation bar to replace the "heart" button of the activity:
This will be a big change in the app and a major linchpin for e-commerce.
The new "Instagram Shop" tab contains a "Collections" carousel with lifestyle-oriented curations put together by the @ shop team from Instagram:

All items in each curated collection come from brands that use Instagram shopping features.

Why Instagram is starting a new shop destination
