So it looks like Microsoft employees will be working from home by July 2021, like Google and many other companies. So I asked if this had any impact on the Microsoft Bing team, and Microsoft's Frederic Dubut said, if anything, he and his team are working harder and longer.

Frederic first reported on his experience working from home on Twitter:

During this time, my relationship with meetings has changed forever. Random 5-minute floor discussions turned into 30-minute meetings. I have full back-to-back days (yes, I look at you on Tuesdays) but every time I have a more than 2 hour break with no meetings I feel lonely

It sounds like meetings, virtual ones that are helpful to him.

So I asked if this change in work environment had impacted productivity in terms of search quality on Bing. Frederic said "no". He said, "When I think we all work longer hours, there is more communication after work and the blurring of the lines between work and personal life creates some stress."

No. I didn't take part in the attached study, but it reflects my team's experience pretty well. When I think we all work longer hours, there is more work communication after work and the blurring of the lines between work and personal life creates some stress. https://t.co/IMf1eUer7C

I don't think everyone is as productive from home as they are from the office, but I think it depends on the person and their situation at work from home.

We all do our best and adapt as best we can.
