Have you ever wondered how dating partners can consistently achieve their conversion goals day in and day out?

Or maybe you've been wondering how to find quality adult, VoD, and gaming traffic that fits your offerings perfectly.

If so, you're in luck!

We recently signed up with TwinRed – a leading self-service adult ad sharing network – to see what makes them the first choice for partners who specialize in adult advertising.

In this article, we're going to take a look at what's new and what's in stock, and reveal an unprecedented case study for you to master the art of adult sex and the performance of pop-unders, video pre-rolls, native, banner and interstitial ads with TwinRed.

What is TwinRed?

TwinRed is an independent, self-service OpenRTB advertising network developed by Double Impact (formerly DoublePimp).

Advertisers can bid on premium ad inventory in real time and manage their campaigns through a range of advanced targeting and optimization tools.

Advertisers can also take advantage of the network's extensive tracking capabilities, precise user targeting, ad fraud security tools, and Skype personal support.

Expect high-quality traffic from premium inventory in top-tier GEOs and get access to a range of custom tools to optimize your campaigns to perfection.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the former Double Impact team is currently working completely remotely in Los Angeles and Budapest – using online task management and conference apps such as Slack, Skype, Jira and Freshdesk – and has a Flexi system in Barcelona. This is good news for advertisers who rely on the availability of the support team to manage their campaigns.

Which ad formats does TwinRed offer?

Let's take a look at the ad formats you can choose for your campaigns on TwinRed.

Popunder: This type of ad format displays a full-page ad under the current browser window that is displayed when the current window is closed. Unfortunately, while it remains a popular format for affiliates as it converts well for many types of offerings, Google did not share the same view and showed pop-under bans for sites with Google ads.

This format is still available on TwinRed. However, read the section below to see why it may no longer be the best ad format for your campaign. While affiliates can still expect a similar ROI – and in some cases even see an increase in conversions – higher volume campaigns can be affected as the Chrome browser accounts for up to 70% of all adult traffic.

Show advertisements: You will find a large selection of premium inventory for all common banner sizes and dimensions.

Interstitials: Interstitial is an ad format adopted by TwinRed to break Google's popunder ban. It is fully compliant with Google's new advertising guidelines and is available for a wide variety of inventories.

An interactive landing page is displayed, which is displayed after the user clicks a link and before they arrive at their destination. It can also include optional features like a countdown timer. This type of ad format offers a good user experience and high click-through rate for all GEOs and industries.

You can use the same theme and ad copy that you would have used for Popunder, making the transition to using interstitial ads painless. Publishers must include a discharge button on their ad.

Video pre-roll: This is the format in which in-stream video clips are displayed and they are automatically played when a user clicks on a video link, as you know it from Youtube etc. Large amounts of premium traffic are available for this future-proof ad format.

Native: Native ads use a custom widget to blend in with the surrounding content for a high CTR and ROI. They are also a popular choice with partners running high volume campaigns. Each placement corresponds to a block within the native ad widget. You can serve native ads over CPC or CPM and they have proven to be good, especially in the dating, gaming, and nutra industries.

They usually work well with advertorial-style landers and are fully integrated into the user experience. This is a relatively new ad format for TwinRed and includes premium ad inventory from high volume publisher websites with heavy adult traffic.

Native ads have a high level of user engagement. However, for the best results, test everything, including headlines and multiple images, and use emoticons and macros to increase your conversions. Advertisers can currently use the {Country}, {City}, {Browser} macros. More will follow.

Publishers may also be interested in TwinRed's "competing" technology. This allows publishers to see which ad is offering them higher rates. This can either be a normal banner advertisement or the native widget within the same commercial.

To press: This revolutionary ad format has proven extremely popular with affiliates in recent years. It works on all devices and users can receive notifications even if they are not actively viewing the page they have subscribed to. Push is available live on TwinRed but is only available through OpentRTB at the time of writing. So click the notification button to stay up to date on developments.

Experiment with these ad formats and test multiple ad points to see which ones work best for your offers. You will find that there is a lot of quality traffic on the network for cam, dating, VoD and gaming offers.

What's the story with popunders?

In early 2020, Google made some far-reaching policy changes that had a significant impact on publishers who drive adult traffic.

In particular, the Popunder format has now been blocked on websites with Google Ads and in the Google Chrome browser.

This was a severe blow to advertisers using the Popunder ad format, and publishers with Popunder inventory suddenly lost five-figure income overnight.

TwinRed (now led by Peter Rabenseifner, former CEO of TrafficStars) has been a leader in developing innovative adtech solutions to circumvent this issue and to comply with Google's policy updates.

A notable development by TwinRed is the inclusion of interstitial ads. These use the same motif as Pops. However, if you were previously familiar with Double Pimp's popunder ad format, you will likely notice some changes.

We recommend speaking to your account manager and setting up a test campaign of interstitial ads to get a feel for how they work.

The first thing you see when you log into your account is the Advertiser Dashboard. This will give you a running total for the past 30 days and will display account information including all active activities and placements.

Then click the Media tab to see all of your saved designs.

This is especially useful as not only can you group all of your designs in one place, but you can also see what they look like to the end user.

Do you want more tracking?

You can add macros to your destination URL to get additional data about your campaigns, such as: B. Which websites deliver the most traffic and which browsers are best for your offer.

TwinRed recommends submitting multiple motif sizes for each ad format in order to access most of the inventory on the network.

Click the Summary Report or Advanced Report tab to review your stats, or select the Accounting tab to view balance and payment history.

That's it for this section of the Dash. Now let's look at how you can use TwinRed to create a profitable campaign and increase your ROI!

Using TwinRed: A Case Study

Adult – CPA Target $ 50

Instead of walking you through every step of the campaign creation process, we're using a live case study to show you exactly how you can make crazy profits with TwinRed.

For this case study, the advertiser used an Adultforce offering.

They are a pretty well known brand and it is interesting to see that you can get such a high ROI with this type of offering.

First, with a specific goal in mind, the advertiser began to find out which 300 × 100 banner spots were performing well. (You don't have to start with the exact same goal – just make sure you have a clear end result in mind when planning your campaigns.)

The motifs were optimized on the partner side with the help of iFrames, so that the advertiser had more time to concentrate on the campaign. This way you can also fight banner blindness and keep the themes fresh for the user.

The other benefit of this strategy is that it removes any ads that are dud while showing more ads that are performing well. To optimize things further, Adultforce continuously adds at least one new motif to the flow.

When you set up your campaign on TwinRed, you can choose run-of-network (RON) or select specific placements.

This campaign was set up with ROZ and targeted the US for banners with the ad format 300 × 100. Other than that, no specific targeting was used. As a result, all operating systems and browsers saw the same ads.

This means the campaign received traffic from all publisher sites on the network with an inventory of 300 × 100. This is usually a good strategy to start with in determining which sites are best for your ads, especially if you don't have pre-existing data to work with.

The frequency cap was set to 1 every 24 hours and the campaign was run for 30 days. This gives you a significant amount of data to work with, and smaller budgets can easily reduce this and still get good results.

First results

30 days and over 12 million impressions later, it was clear that one website was performing far better than the others on this offer.

But did it achieve the advertiser's goal?

A total of 19 conversions were achieved with an ad spend of $ 1,052 and a CPA of $ 55.39.

Of those 19 conversions, 11 were from the Crazyshit website with a CPA of $ 42.51. So not too shabby!

This was the best CPA on all of the websites that tested the ad. With encouraging test data and a positive ROI, the advertiser then created a new campaign targeting just that one publisher.

This is where things start to get a little more specific:

Two separate placements were created, one for each operating system. One placement was set up for Android and Chrome browsers, the other exclusively for iOS.

These two placements received a higher bid allocation than in the first campaign and the frequency limit was changed from 1 in 24 to 3 in 24 hours. This was done to ensure the volume quota was met as the campaign was only targeting one publisher.

Long-term performance

After running this campaign for an additional 3 months, the setup proved successful.

So much so that the two placements mentioned above for the top performing ad campaigns to date are still at the top of the list in the advertiser's account.

This is a pretty big win, and it shows that by testing and isolating your campaigns this way, you can get great results.

The campaign was carried out in September, October and November. November exceeded the other two months by three times the conversions for both placements.

This is a great example of how you can use TwinRed with popular adult offers to get exceptional results and optimize your campaigns for sustainable performance.

Pro tip: Some niche offerings can historically produce a much higher ROI if you do this step correctly.

Create your first campaign

On the Campaigns tab, click the Create New Campaign button. Give your campaign a name, define the start and end dates and click Next to continue.

Here you can choose a budget for your campaign and hit the create campaign button to get started. You still need to add placements and targeting. So click on "Create new placement".

From here you can set the basics, targeting, schedule, media rotation, caps, and bids.

There are some nice targeting features that can help you get qualified traffic for your offers.

These include country, city, sexual orientation, network targeting, and channel targeting.

Use the advanced options in the Technology Targeting section to target specific devices, operating systems, and browsers.

Next, fill out the planning table and add your designs to the media rotations.

Click on the theme to see which placements use this medium and test the theme in your browser.

Then add your spending and frequency caps and select your bid and zones. Use this option to select individual publishers for your campaigns.

Another good thing about TwinRed is that when choosing dynamic CPM it comes out of a second price auction. This means that if your bid is the winner, you will only pay one increment above the second highest bid when using dynamic CPM bidding.

From here, if you look in the left corner of the dash, you can see the estimated daily inventory and mean bid for your placement. For best results, it is recommended that you bid above media supply.

Finally, add your name for the bid placement, review your placement, and you're good to go!

If you think you missed something on your first campaign, don't worry as you can edit your bids, zones, caps, targeting, schedules and motives right from the Campaign Details tab.

TwinRed works with all common trackers and is very easy to set up for advanced reporting.

If the tracker you are using is not included, you can contact the support team for assistance.

If you have any doubts about using this feature, contact your account manager who can help you.

Make sure to use the custom macros to get detailed information about your campaigns.

Funds can be added to your account from the Accounting tab.

You can view your cash balance, your credit limit and the amount you can spend. You can add funds by wire transfer or Paxum – with a minimum deposit of $ 500 for wire transfer and $ 100 for Paxum. PayPal is available, but only on request. You can also check your payment history and account book on the same tab.

It is even possible to issue a pro forma invoice for future pending campaigns.

While it would be nice to see additional payment options for the account, most users shouldn't have trouble adding funds.

TwinRed is an impressive rebrand led by an innovative team who are making the right calls in response to a rapidly changing climate.

The focus on interstitial and native as the solution to the popunder truth bomb is a timely development and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds in the months ahead.

There is a good selection of ad formats that, when paired with high-traffic partners on the network, should guarantee a good return on your investment.

The volume and quality of the traffic is good and works well for partners working with adult, VoD and gaming offers.

If you've been on the fence about stepping in or looking to try TwinRed for your own deals, now is a good time to jump in.

With many consumers on vacation or working from home, affiliate offers are becoming increasingly important in all industries.

TwinRed offers the perfect opportunity to capitalize on this downturn and use it to your own advantage.

The quality and volume of traffic should be enough to attract high volume partners who are serious about making money.
