"Is it just me or have things been a little too quiet lately," said SEO at WebmasterWorld. This is the feeling lately since we saw some errors in search ranking (or indexing) a few weeks ago. It has been 3 months and 22 days since the last core update. The May 2020 core Google update was May 4th.
In fact, the last, also unconfirmed, ranking tremor of the Google search was on August 6th or 7th. This doesn't include the ranking and indexing errors we've seen since then.
The SEO community is getting nervous and nervous. You get ready and eagerly await the next core update. We have one due every day and I suspect we will have one in the coming weeks. Will it be a core update for August 2020 or September 2020 has yet to be determined, but it should come soon.
Some saw some movement in the past 24 hours, but it was very, very limited:
I get tweets pretty often these days asking me:
@rustybrick Barry – what happened to the core update? Isn't it time we got another update?
– Divyanka (@TechThinkers) August 26, 2020
As if I had inside knowledge …
I'm expecting something soon in the next few weeks, but that's just because of how Google has released these core updates in the past. We usually get one every three to four months.
Right now, most of the tools are pretty quiet and quieter than they have been in a long time. The eerie silence makes the SEO industry a little uncomfortable.
