While college is a time of personal and professional growth, for many students it is an expensive investment in their future.

Students attend college with the expectation of securing employment. However, not all schools are equal in terms of job placement success.

Some colleges are far more supportive of their students' postgraduate concerns than others. Small colleges in particular – with smaller class sizes and a stronger sense of community – do an excellent job of preparing students for success.

To draw attention to exceptional small schools, at Zippia we have compiled a list of the best small schools to get a job.

Using information from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), we searched each state for college with an enrollment level between 1,000 and 5,000.

From there, we compared the small colleges to data from the college scorecard to find the highest job placement ratings listed, looking at employment levels 10 years after graduation.

Then we picked the institution with the highest placement rate in each state. For the sake of readability, we've rounded the placement of each school to the nearest decimal point.

These small colleges are best for finding jobs. Did a school in your state make the list?
